Paint Flowers in the Garden

Jo Reitze is back!

Gouache workshop in the pretty setting of Plant Craft Cottage’s garden: includes cheese and wine as you finish the workshop and enjoy the art you just created.

Bring the outside inside. Capture the garden or that special view. Join Jo at this hands-on workshop to experience working in gouache (opaque water colour), sometimes referred to as designer colour. This is a very forgiving medium and relies less on accidental effects than traditional watercolour. The strong tonal contrasts of oil can be achieved without the mess as it is a water-based medium. A postcard-sized painting will be completed in the session. A materials list will be supplied on registration.

Where: Plant Craft Cottage, enter via H GAte

Continue in our series of Tackle the War on Waste Workshops with Jodie Goldring, who is a notorious gleaner that has a broad range of creative experiences to share. Patterned shirts go out of fashion so quickly that they tend to crowd the hanging spaces in our wardrobes and at op shops. In this workshop you are invited to use them to make complex colouration in the creation of a coiled basket using a mariposa stitch. You will also learn the technique of string making which is a relaxing thing to do at the end of the day and resulting cordage can be used for a myriad of things around the house and garden, such as tying a tomato plant to a stake.  So, grab your old patterned shirts and join us for a beginners’ basketry workshop at Plant Craft Cottage nestled in the RBGV Melbourne Gardens. This workshop will inspire you to make your very own treasures by re-purposing your old clothes to tackle the growing war on waste.
No experience needed. All materials included. Suitable for both adults and teenagers.
